Have the sneaking suspicion that your team could be doing better? Are things taking a little too long to get out the door? A little too many complaints coming back after a feature ships? A little too much tech debt piling up? Let’s talk about some of the most common ways teams get in their own way.

It's a common practice to verify a phone number or implement two factor authentication by sending a one time password over SMS. We can all agree that it's a pretty terrible user experience though. This process may increase security, but the friction can decrease conversion and the user experience in general. Android and iOS have APIs to combat this, so why not the web? In this talk we'll take a look at autocomplete and the WebOTP API to see how the web platform can help us build secure flows and a better experience all round.

Tech debt comes as free credit for our lack of experience, wrong deadlines or simply a mix of bad decisions; but no matter how it gets there, the cost is usually on accessibility. The first to sacrify is the one tool that allows all people to surf the web without constraints. How do we tackle a technical debt for accessibility? Where do we begin? How fast and far can we get? In this talk we will go through real-world examples on how to begin fixing the most important technical debt out there.

Despite a decade in technology and experience as an executive coach, I wasn’t quite prepared for my experience as a COO. I later discovered that I wasn't alone, leadership wasn't what many others expected either. I'll talk about how leadership is different from what came before and how to successfully navigate it.
